A good friend of mine made a few excellent points on what types of games he thinks would be the least harmful for a child: Games where there is a clear frame: there is a beginning, a clear story line and an ending. Games that are like an interactive book.

If I think back to my childhood, the games that bring back the fondest memories are:

  • Warcraft III
  • Age of Empires
  • Transport Tycoon
  • Heroes of might and magic 2
  • Little Big Adventure 2
  • Settlers IV

Not all of those fit the category my friend described. To be continued…
